They found each other in the midst of the pandemic through the shared passion of wanting to protect our community and elders. They are healing our community by curating safe space events that foster discourse while generating income for merchants fighting to survive. Their goal is to support Asian small business corridors that have disproportionately suffered from COVID-19 and racism. "description": " Rodney A. Fong\r\nRodney A. Fong is a native San Franciscan and a third generation operator/owner of the world famous Wax Museum at Fisherman’s Wharf, where he served as President until it closed its doors after 50 years.  He currently is the President of Fong Real Estate Company, LLC, overseeing the development and leasing of family properties, including the 100,000 square foot Wax Museum Entertainment Complex in the heart of historic Fisherman’s Wharf and 2001 Broadway Apartments.\r\n \r\n \r\nRodney has been working in the family owned Wax Museum Entertainment Complex since his childhood.  He has always loved the family’s fascinating business and has consistently worked to expand the organization.  Making marketing his main focus, Rodney utilizes an out of the box approach consisting of the skills he inherited from his grandfather and father along with his own special knack for instilling confidence and putting people at ease. Rodney excels in finessing compromises and solidarity amongst a wide range of diverse groups and interests, a talent which aided him in becoming a successful business leader in his community.\r\n \r\nIn 2013, Rodney negotiated a multi-year business and real estate lease transaction with Merlin Entertainment, one of the largest entertainment attractions in the world, coming in second only to Disney. Merlin Entertainment will invest $35 million to develop two attractions at the Wax Museum Entertainment Complex, which opened in summer 2014: the world famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and the new San Francisco Dungeon.\r\nRodney has been active and held office in a wide variety of civic, tourist and travel related organizations including the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (in which he was a founding member), the Fisherman’s Wharf Merchant’s Association, The Bay Institute, the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation, and the California Travel Industry Association. Rodney served for over four years on the San Francisco Port Commission, and was voted its President in 2009.  That same year, he became Chair of the San Francisco Travel Association, and continues to serve on the Board of Directors. In 2010, Rodney was appointed to serve on the San Francisco Planning commission by then Mayor, Gavin Newsom. He served as a commission member until 2012, at which time he was elected as President of the Planning Commission by his peers. Rodney currently serves as President of the Planning Commission. Also in 2012, as part of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Rodney was honored by the City and County of San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Lastly, Rodney is the Director of the Fong Family Foundation, a philanthropic organization created by his grandparents to benefit many worthwhile social services in the City and County of San Francisco.  \r\n\r\nIn June of 2013, the Fisherman's Wharf Jefferson Street Public Realm Plan completed its phase one efforts with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Edwin Lee. This project started in 2005, with Rodney's leadership and coordination of over two hundred stakeholders in a community-driven private public partnership. Today, tens of millions of visitors to Fisherman's Wharf can enjoy these newly improved streets, which create a pedestrian and bicycle friendly area for all to enjoy.\r\n \r\nRodney also serves as the President & CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. "
