The COUSIN KICKBACK!

This is our first youth KINSHIP gathering!

We are excited to announce our first ever kinship gathering called the Cousin Kickback. This is a gathering but with lots of fun party vibes. A sort of End of Summer or Back to Scho ol Party.

There will be 2 sessions/parties. The first will be for our 1st - 6th grade cousins. The second will be for our 7th - 12th grade cousins. There will pizza, music, and chill fun vibes and times.

We have ONE goal. We want all the cousins in attendance to leave knowing one new persons name. That's all. To make this happen we will be asking all the cousins in attendance to introduce themselves. After that, it's party time. So we are asking all parents, grandparents, or guardians to help all the cousins practice introducing themselves with name and tribe, at least. If they want to share more they can.

Our goal is to help our young folks understand the importance of community. We want to help everyone understand that even though you may not be best friends, or real cousins, you can still respect each other and show care when needed. We hope that in the future, may it be at school, church, or at a powwow or another amazing community event that they say hi. That is such an important part of building community. Maybe they forget a name but remember their face, we want to encourage our youth to say hi.

We will also have a very exciting guest sharing about DANCE AS HEALING. Our friend and community member Rock-ill will be sharing very cool B-Girl or Breakin skills (break dancing). Rock ill has years of experience in the hip hip world and specifically the breakin world. We hope this skill share gets some of the cousins up and moving. 😎 💃 🕺

We will also have a chill space for the adults to hang out in. The lobby at C3 will be the adult space to chill, connect, and build community as well.

Remember there will be 2 separate "parties" happening. One will start at 3pm and end at 5pm, there will be a break, and then the next party will begin. We want to respect our youth, their ages, and give them time for them.

We hope this is only the first gathering for all the COUSIN KINFOLK. Help us learn what that will look like for the future.
