The Auspicious New Beginning: This day marks the Sun's shift into the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Makara), beginning the Uttarayan—the six-month period when the Sun moves northward. This time is considered highly auspicious for spiritual growth and success.

A Harvest of Gratitude: It is a time for thanksgiving to the Sun God (Surya) for sustaining life and celebrating the season's bountiful harvest across India.

Sweetness and Unity: We share sweets made of sesame (til) and jaggery (gul), symbolizing the desire to forgive differences and foster peace, unity, and love among all.
