In this full-day workshop, Meg Loeks will share her approach to creating narrative-driven portraits through intentional storytelling, light, color, styling, and composition. Meg will walk through how she develops an idea from its earliest starting point and builds the visual elements around it, from choosing a location and creating a color palette to styling, props, lighting, and the small details that help a photograph feel layered and purposeful. The day will combine presentation, demonstration, hands-on shooting, and editing. Meg will demonstrate how she builds and lights a scene, including how she uses key, fill, and environmental light to create depth and guide the viewer through the frame. Attendees will then have the opportunity to photograph the styled setup and explore how changes in composition, perspective, light, and direction can create entirely different interpretations of the same scene. The workshop will conclude with Meg walking through her post-processing workflow, showing how she refines color, light, and visual hierarchy while maintaining the atmosphere established in camera. Throughout the day, the emphasis will remain on the why behind each creative decision, giving attendees tools they can adapt to their own subjects, style, and voice rather than a formula to recreate Meg's work.Topics include:Finding and developing ideasCreating narrative within a single frameUsing ordinary experiences as creative materialComposition and visual hierarchyBuilding depth through foreground, subject, and environmentColor theory and intentional palette buildingStyling wardrobe and props with purposeUsing light to shape mood and direct attentionBuilding a scene one light at a timeKey, fill, and environmental lightingDirecting subjects through action rather than rigid posingCreating cohesion within the frameRefining color and light in post-processingDeveloping a recognizable visual language without relying on formulas https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events2/banners/3a5c3600-c624-11f1-ba03-b7505d4e7d42-rimg-w576-h740-dc080808-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events8/banners/3a67cec0-c624-11f1-ba03-b7505d4e7d42-rimg-w574-h740-dc285858-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events4/banners/3a78e5c0-c624-11f1-ba03-b7505d4e7d42-rimg-w1124-h740-dc483828-gmir.jpg - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/dallas/creating-narrative-driven-portraits/100002000636673145 - **Event Categories**: workshops, sports, storytelling - **Slot details of has slots**: - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 - **Event Highlights**: - Duration: 6 hours - Location: Competitive Cameras - Languages: English ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 175.26, max: 175.26, currency: USD ## Event venue details - **city**: Dallas - **state**: TX - **country**: United States - **location**: Competitive Cameras - **lat**: 32.9340535 - **long**: -96.83845939999999 - **full address**: Competitive Cameras, 13614 Midway Rd, Dallas, United States ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: Creating Narrative-Driven Portraits - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events3/banners/39af2bfb1a02741398e004af850e730e0acb4c340353491fc07fed6032b9fce9-rimg-w1200-h600-dcc8c8c8-gmir.jpg?v=1791799447 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is Creating Narrative-Driven Portraits being held? - **A:** Creating Narrative-Driven Portraits takes place on Fri, 16 Oct, 2026 at 10:00 am to Sat, 17 Oct, 2026 at 10:00 am at Competitive Cameras, 13614 Midway Rd, Dallas, United States. - **Q**: Who is organizing Creating Narrative-Driven Portraits? - **A:** Creating Narrative-Driven Portraits is organized by Competitive Cameras. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
