Communication Seminar for Leaders
This is an interactive 2 ½ hour professional development course for leaders and professionals.
Participants will learn how to better understand and resolve to their favor, new challenges in communications inherent in the new normal of heightened conflict, social media bomb throwers, tribalism, and division.
You will learn how to read between the lines of what people are really saying, how to actively listen to recognize and distinguish between legitimate concerns that need to be addressed and unmerited complaints that are mere traps and to be ignored. Critical today.
The course is ideal for those wanting to improve communication skills to better understand how to break down communications with a listening ear as opposed to a “hearing ear' to get quickly to the heart of any issue without sounding condescending.
One of the keys to being an influencer and game-changer in today’s complicated and diverse work and political environments is learning how to say what needs to be said in a way to get the desired result; especially when what needs to be said is unpopular, difficult, can and will so easily be misconstrued as racist, misogynistic, micro-aggressive, Xenophobic or homophobic. You will learn how to avoid these land mines.

A more successful engagement process for improved leadership, communication, and trust among staff, team members, colleagues and/or constituents in diverse social and social media environments.
Dr. Darrell L. Bock is Executive Director of Cultural Engagement and Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Dr. Bock has earned recognition as a Humboldt Scholar (Tu?bingen University in Germany), is the author of over 40 books, including well-regarded commentaries on Luke and Acts and studies of the historical Jesus, and work in cultural engagement as host of the seminary’s Table Podcasts.
He was president of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) for 2000–2001, is a consulting editor for Christianity Today, and serves on the boards of Wheaton College and Chosen People Ministries. His articles appear in leading publications. He is often an expert for the media on NT issues.
Dr. Bock has been a New York Times best-selling author in nonfiction and is elder emeritus at Trinity Fellowship Church in Dallas.
Dorothy Burton is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Christians in Public Service and President of Calibrate - specializing in motivational speaking, teaching, professional and personal development; and, helping cities, towns, and organizations in improving organizational processes.
A trailblazer, Dorothy is a former four-term City Councilmember for the City of Duncanville and was the first African American elected to the Council. She is a charter graduate of Dallas Blueprint for Leadership and former Chair of the Dallas Central Appraisal District Board of Directors representing Dallas County.
She was twice elected Board Chairman and was the first African-American to serve as Chairman of the Board. An accomplished writer and speaker, Dorothy is the author of the book: Why We Fall: The Power of Self-Awareness.
A former member of the National League of Cities Women in Municipal Government (WIMG) Board of Directors, she was the first woman from Texas elected to serve. Dorothy is a graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington; earning a BA in Communication (Journalism), an MA in Urban Affairs and in 2006 was recognized as Outstanding African-American Alum. Dorothy is a graduate a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary earning a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership.
