A young woman (Samantha Morton) wakes to a gruesome reality on Christmas morning: Her boyfriend has committed suicide. In the minutes, hours, and days that follow, she will reckon with a shapeless blend of Christmas past, present, and future.

Ramsay’s staggering second feature explores grief in a neorealist tapestry of string lights, snowflakes, and blood flecks. Above all else, the film reminds us how readily the world accommodates our worst impulses.
