About the event

Olaudah Equiano: Formerly Enslaved Pioneer of Abolition
As a child, Olaudah Equiano was kidnapped and sold to slave traders. As an adult, he purchased his freedom, became a pioneer of the abolitionist cause and published a memoir. Join Dr. Eric M. Washington, Director of African and African Diaspora Studies at Calvin University, as he shares Equiano's story and how his life and work helped shape the abolition movement in England.
