Today, the Wandle Trail has transformed into a surprisingly green corridor through the city, blending nature, history, old industry, parks, and hidden corners of London that most people never see.Starting in West Croydon, we’ll pick up the river and gradually make our way north through a constantly changing landscape of wetlands, old mill sites, parks, woodland paths, and quiet suburban stretches. Along the route we’ll pass through places shaped by the river’s history, including former textile and printing industries that once thrived along its banks.One of the highlights of the day is our lunch stop at Morden Hall Park, a beautiful National Trust estate sitting directly on the river. Here we’ll take a proper break surrounded by old bridges, waterways, meadows, and historic buildings before continuing toward the Thames.As we head further north, the river becomes more urban again before eventually meeting the Thames near Wandsworth, where we’ll finish the walk having successfully crossed a huge stretch of South London entirely on foot.?
