South Lake Artists' Co-op is putting together a new exhibition for the fall season at Sip Coffee House & Artisan Café in Crown Point, Indiana, and the theme is Labyrinth. This show is all about winding paths, hidden passages, impossible mazes, unexpected discoveries, and maybe even the journeys we take to find our way. Maybe your work is inspired by ancient stone labyrinths, mythical tales, or tangled forests and overgrown gardens. It could be city streets, intricate architecture, or based off of PAC-MAN or the human mind, or life's twists and turns—it’s all open for interpretation, and we encourage artists to explore the theme however it speaks to them. A labyrinth can be physical or symbolic. Maybe it represents confusion or clarity, challenge or discovery, getting lost or finding yourself. Maybe it's inspired by the Minotaur, a dreamscape, a maze of memories, the winding road of grief or healing, or simply the quiet beauty of taking the long way around…. Or maybe something is waiting around the next corner. Perhaps your path is lined with strange creatures, forgotten doors, cryptic maps (I’m imagining a mix between Labyrinth and Myst right now, anybody else?), flickering lanterns and impossible staircases, overgrown ruins, or whispers that may or may not be helping. Maybe the exit keeps moving. Maybe there was never an exit to begin with. Maybe getting lost is the point. Your interpretation might be intricate and geometric, dark and mysterious, playful and surreal, deeply personal, delightfully unsettling, or a completely imagined scenario. But we welcome all styles and interpretations! This is an open and interpretive theme (family-friendly) meant to spark creativity across all styles and disciplines. All mediums are welcome as long as the work can be SAFELY mounted to the wall with proper wiring! Just make sure you give us a labyrinth to wander... and maybe leave a few breadcrumbs behind. ;) Absolutely NO-AI artwork is allowed.
