Carol and David Staten from 4A's Farm in Sunbright, TN will be teaching students to make cold process goat milk soap with natural, skin-loving ingredients like olive oil, lard, coconut oil, and of course raw goat milk from their Nubian goat herd at Dogwood Exchange, 4950 Hwy 127 S Crossville, TN on Saturday, 11/22 from 10-12 CST.
They will discuss their ingredients and the saponification process used to mix their soap batter. Each student will pour the soap into the mold and insert decorative embeds into the soap. Our November design is a wintry snowstorm made with a drop swirl and white confetti, and two embeds (tree and star). The fragrance is Lavender Mint, a crisp clean winter fragrance. (Students design their own soap within the limits of the materials provided and have the option to make unscented soap.)
You can unmold your soap and cut it into 4 bars after 24 hours have passed. To achieve its best quality, cold processed handmade soap needs to cure for one month before use.
Please wear closed toed shoes and long sleeves, and bring a hair tie if necessary. We provide eye protection, gloves, aprons and all your sudsy ingredients.
Class fee is $55 per person for a 2 hour class. Each paying participant will take home over a pound of handmade goat milk soap, a silicone soap mold, and a soap dish.
A waiver must be signed before class participation. Students must be at least 18 years old.
