This is the perfect opportunity to spend some time working off festive indulgences in a spectacular winter wonderland location. In it's third year, this is our most popular event and, early booking is recommended. Award for 1st Male & Female A bespoke event Mug (new design for 2025) Hot soup and roll Free downloadable event pictures A packet of Wild flower seeds Venue: Hamsterley Forest Park, Bishop Auckland DL13 3NL Start Time: 10:30am Registration: 8 - 9.30 am Hamsterley Forest is the largest forest in County Durham and covers 4900 square acres. The Forest is great for trail running and enjoying the local wildlife, if you are lucky you may spot one of the Deer, Badgers or Squirrels. Starting and finishing at the visitor centre which is at the main car park. The route follows well marked footpaths, forest trails and woodland tracks. Our partners at Greener Miles are an eco-friendly company and, on that basis, do not use disposable plastic cups and do not offer T shirts as standard as many go to waste after events. We will be collecting Pre-loved running kit so that we can pass it all onto an up-cycling scheme which we are supporting. We are actively encouraging participants to give something back to the environment which is why your race goodies are a little bit different. We are including a packet of mixed wild flower seeds for you to plant which will encourage bees and other pollinators to visit your garden and is great for the environment. You can access Greener Miles car sharing group on Facebook, where you can arrange car sharing opportunities with other race day participants. Great for the environment and great for your pocket.... and you could win free race places in our car share raffle! Car Share group Terrain conditions are a mixture of hard packed gravel tracks, single twisting dirt tracks and occasional muddy bridleway. Ideal for novices and more experienced Canicross runners. The route will be fully waymarked. There will be a race HQ with toilets. There are plenty of car parking spaces but participants are encouraged to car share when possible. You may need to walk for 10 mins or so to registration so please allow time. Discounted parking charges apply. There will be medical support from Rapid Reaction NE Ltd who will be on the course throughout the event. Weather - at this time of year it is normal for the temperature to fall below freezing therefore there will be a mandatory kit list for your safety.
