Mr. Hat Presents the penultimate Sugartown Shakedown, featuring THE BLANK TAPES and special guests THE LEVI THOMAS BAND.
The Blank Tapes is the musical project of multi-instrumentalist and artist Matt Adams, known for his prolific output of 1960s and 70s-inspired psychedelic pop, surf-rock, and folk, often recorded on a home 8-track cassette recorder. Starting in 2002, Adams has released over a dozen albums, creating the band's distinctive "warm, whimsical, and ambient" sound, and also handles all the band's artwork. The band tours internationally, with collaborators joining for live performances, and Adams is also an illustrator for bands like the Grateful Dead and others.
The Blank Tapes' music blends influences from British Invasion bands like The Beatles and The Kinks with American rock groups of the 60s and 70s, resulting in a "groovy, surfy, Summer soup" with notes of country and soul.
Levi Thomas is an American songwriter and musician based in California who is known for his cosmic-country rock music. He began his music career in the psych-rock scene in the Midwest and later transitioned to a solo career influenced by Americana sounds. His songs explore themes of wanderlust and existential uncertainty, informed by his experience moving west.
It all goes down in charming Sugartown on the Carquinez at the dive bar we know as Toot's. 8 pm doors, 8:30 show, cheap drinks, you are welcome to bring in food from nearby eateries!
