Last year, volunteers at the clean-up collected a staggering 2,300 pounds of trash and toxic firework debris.In collaboration with key partners including California State Parks, the National Park Service, Smith River Alliance, CalTrans, and the Del Norte Solid Waste Authority, RPC is mobilizing volunteers to tackle the litter with a focus on a 2-mile stretch along Crescent City’s South Beach. This collective effort is essential in mitigating the harmful effects of pollution on the ocean and the marine life that calls it home.This year’s clean-up will concentrate efforts along a two-mile stretch of Crescent City’s South Beach, aiming to protect marine life and the broader ocean ecosystem.“Coming together on July 5 is a powerful way for our community to care for the coast we all share,” said Autumn Subers, Volunteer and Transportation Director at Redwood Parks Conservancy. “Each volunteer effort helps protect and preserve the beauty of Crescent City’s shoreline for future generations.”All necessary cleanup supplies will be provided, including trash bags, pickers, dumpsters, and sharps containers. Additionally, snacks and refreshments will be available to keep volunteers energized throughout the event.For safety reasons, volunteers are advised to wear closed-toe shoes and pants. Those unable to attend the clean-up event in person can still contribute by making a donation to RPC.
