- **Event Description**: Gather at Maidenbower Park for the annual in-channel litter pick along the Stanford Brook.About this EventJoin us:Come and help get the in-channel litter out of the waterways around Maidenbower to improve to help the local wildlife as well as improve the community area for all to enjoy.What you'll do:Work in teams to collect the litter that has found its way into the channelWhat you'll gain: Practical conservation skills, hands-on experience in invasive species management, and the satisfaction of making a visible difference to your local river. Plus, you'll meet other people passionate about protecting nature. It’s a great way to meet people, get some fresh air, and give back to nature.No experience needed – just bring energy and clothes you don't mind getting dirty!What you need to know🕒 When: Tuesday 22nd September 2026, 10am-1pm. (This is a shorter session from previous years as there will be a larger area litter pick on the 27th September)📍Where to meet: Car park for Maidenbower Park.Google map HERE.What 3 words: ///being.pass.catsNearest bus stop: HERE🚗 Parking: At the car park by the park or the community centre👉 Booking is essential so we can plan tools and work safely.⏰ Booking closes at midnight, Sunday 20th SeptemberWhat do you need to bring?Water bottle (filled up and we have water available)Reusable coffee cup if you have oneWeather appropriate clothing (including long sleeves and trousers as there are nettles around)Wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirtyWe will provide tea, coffee, biscuits and light refreshments throughout the day.We will provide gloves and other PPE you will need, if you have sturdy gloves you can bring your own. We will also provide all tools needed.Accessibility: Please be aware that some sections of the riverbank are steep and uneven. Some work will require entering the river channel wearing waders (provided). If you have any questions about access or physical requirements, please get in touch before the event.Under 18?Minimum age is 16. If you're 16 or 17 and coming without a parent/guardian, we'll need written parental consent.
