Bluewood Adventure Lodge & Campsite
Tilgate Drive, Crawley, United Kingdom
Join us for a unique event! Listen to three tales of Sussex Folklore retold by writers and performers from Crawley's Pitchy Breath theatre group while sat around the campfire at the Girlguiding site Bluewoods in Tilgate Park (K2 entrance).
There is parking outside Bluewoods Hut 23. The gate to campsite will open at 7.00pm where you will walk down through the woodland to the campfire site. Please wear suitable warm clothing and footwear as the ground is uneven. It may be wise to bring a torch too although there will be marshalls to assist you. Toilets are located in the main building.
There will be a hot drink (tea or coffee) to welcome you before you take your seat - there are logs to sit on around the fire, but it is advisable to bring your own camping chair for comfort.
There will be an interval to refill your drink and toast a marshamllow or two around the fire.
This event is suitable for 14+ years due to the content of the performances.
Spaces are limited due to the size and nature of the site.
A few lines about the pieces to be performed:
The Knucker by Robin Dixon
Jim Pulk and the Knucker is an old Sussex dragon slaying folktale. Here it is presented in the manor of a Saxon sage.
A Tall Tale by Eve Ainsworth
Have you ever felt small and insignificant? Perhaps something wonderful lingers in your blood - something huge that is just waiting to burst out.
Hooded Claw by Eve Ainsworth
This is a warning! Come at your own risk but to ignore our speakers words would be a mistake. Sussex is at risk and the truth is about to unfold.
