Narrated by Jessie Buckley and featuring O'Brien's final interviews, the documentary delves into her extraordinary journey—from rural County Clare to international acclaim—highlighting the personal and political landscapes that shaped her work and life. With rare archival material and candid reflections, Blue Road stands as a powerful testament to O'Brien's resilience, artistry, and enduring legacy.
A 93-year-old Irish writer Edna O'Brien recounts her controversial life, novels, love affairs, and stardom through personal journals.

One of Ireland's most important novelists and a woman of fierce intelligence and bravery is celebrated in Sinéad O'Shea's thoroughly enjoyable documentary.

This screening is part of a Collective Docs Ireland tour– an initiative from Film Hub NI (BFI Film Audience Network) to connect people to great films.  A heartfelt celebration of creativity, courage, and voice—this is one not to miss.
