- **Event Description**: On Wednesday August 6, the Greene County Historical Society is pleased to welcome back local historian Ron Gabriele to present the program “The Enola Gay Atomic Bomb Mission.”

Ron Gabriele follows up Richard Muggeo’s excellent lecture from July 20th on women who served in World War II with a look at another fascinating woman, Helen Dortch Longstreet. Helen was a Riveter in a B-29 bomber war plant. Ron will provide a look at her long and impressive career while describing the immense difficulties of developing the B-29 to operational status. 

August 6th is the 80th Anniversary of the first atomic bomb air raid in history. Ron will discuss the only two atomic bomb missions in history. There will be a surprise ending to the story as you’ll hear how one man on the second mission changes the course of world history with three words. You will have to attend to learn this little known secret!

The program will begin at 7pm and be held in the Vedder Research Library on the grounds of the Bronck Museum. The Bronck Museum is located at 90 County Route 42, Coxsackie, NY. Suggested donation for this program is $10.
