- **Event Description**: Are you interested in making your own yarn? In this class, local fiber artist Anna Makela will help students to learn the basics of the ancient art of handspinning wool using a drop spindle.
Using a locally crafted drop spindle and sustainable American wool, students will learn how to choose and prepare wool, start using the drop spindle, spinning techniques, how to ply the yarn, and how to finish it to use in knitting, crochet, and weaving projects. Along the way, they will learn about the ancient history of spinning and textile arts, how wool is grown, and will have the opportunity to see how Vikings likely spun wool using a genuine, thousand year old spindle whorl!

*The fee per student is $75, due at the beginning of the class. Payment by cash is preferred, but the instructor also accepts credit card payments.
