Please dress comfortably and be prepared to move
Expect to learn a short combination that reflects the style and energy of the show

🎤 Voice & Acting Auditions
🗓 Saturday, April 11th
⏰ Starting at 10:00 AM-2:00 PM
🎶 VOCAL AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Prepare 16–32 bars (1–2 minutes) of a song NOT from Hairspray
Choose something that highlights your vocal ability and personality
Suggested styles:
1960s Pop / Rock-and-Roll
Motown
Contemporary Musical Theatre in that style (Grease, Memphis, All Shook Up, Catch Me If You Can)
No a cappella singing
Bring an instrumental track (no vocals) that can connect via Bluetooth

🎭 MONOLOGUE REQUIREMENTS
Prepare 1 short monologue (30–60 seconds)
Recommended styles:
Comedic monologues with strong personality and timing
Bold, confident characters with a sense of humor
Pieces that reflect themes of identity, perseverance, or standing up for what’s right
Monologues with sass, heart, and charm (Hairspray-style energy!)

🌟 IMPORTANT NOTES
Ages: 15 and up
The role of Edna Turnblad has been pre-cast
People of color are highly needed and strongly encouraged to audition as we strive to authentically represent the story and its cultural significance
All experience levels are welcome!
