Covina proposed building a sewage disposal farm near Walnut Center — farmland just outside its city limits. The residents who lived there had no vote in Covina’s decision.

What followed was a fierce civic battle over infrastructure, property rights, groundwater, representation, and sovereignty.

Within one year, West Covina incorporated as its own city.

On March 26, 2026, we step back one hundred years to the moment before that break.

Join us for a live historical reenactment featuring student teams from Covina Valley USD and West Covina USD as they recreate the debate exactly as it would have unfolded in 1922.

This is not modern politics.
This is historical civic conflict brought back to life.

What to Expect

• Archival maps, aerials, and newspaper accounts
• A live 1920s-style Town Hall exchange
• Student speakers representing both sides
• A mock 1922 ballot vote — How would you have voted?
• Historical outcome revealed

Plus: A brief pre-dinner presentation on Covina Pottery with a special sign handoff.
