Join us once again this Winter Solstice where we'll be celebrating the shortest day of the year with a big ol' bonfire, warming food and some live music to soothe the bitter winter air.
The growing season has slowed right down, the harvests have very much come to an end and the growing beds have been put to rest for winter so it's time to wind down and enjoy the site as a place for reflection and community.
To help us welcome in the start of Winter we'll be joined by our extraordinarily special musical guest Jon Wilks.
Jon Wilks is a singer, songwriter and acclaimed fingerpicking guitarist whose work is rooted in English folk traditions, memory, and place.
A former journalist for Time Out, The Guardian, and Dazed & Confused, Wilks brings a sharp storytelling sensibility to his songwriting and stagecraft. He founded and was the original editor of Tradfolk.co, and has been featured regularly on BBC Radio 2’s Folk Show. He performs both solo and with his occasional band, The Grizzly Folk. In 2025, he co-curated The Life and Songs of Martin Carthy, a major tribute concert at EartH, London.
As a collaborator, Jon has shared stages with Graham Coxon, Billy Bragg, Martin Carthy, Eliza Carthy, Bridget St John, Jackie Oates, Jim Moray, Katherine Priddy, Ellie Gowers, Broadside Hacks, Lisa Knapp, Nick Hart, Mikey Kenney, Sam Grassie and many more of the UK folk scene’s leading lights.
As well as food and music we'll also be offering the opportunity to get involved in some seasonally appropriate crafting. The practice is related to an announcement we'll be making shortly but for now we can say it's family friendly with all your material provided.
This is a free event with a small charge for food (cash only).
