A Sunday Evening Dinner & Talk at The Old County Hall, Coventry - now known as the Slug & Lettuce.

Step inside the County Hall, the former Coventry courthouse, and return to the summer of 1849 - when this very building witnessed one of the city’s most chilling trials.

Within these historic walls, Mary Ball stood accused of poisoning her husband, a case that shocked Victorian England and ended in Coventry’s last female public execution. Tried here at the Coventry Summer Assizes, her story is one of poverty, passion, suspicion, and a justice system at its most unforgiving.

Join us on a Sunday evening from 6:30 pm. to 8:30 pm for an engaging talk exploring the life, trial, and execution of Mary Ball, told in the exact place where her fate was decided. Set against the atmospheric backdrop of this Grade II* listed building, the evening blends true crime history with a relaxed social experience.
