The Strathcona Symphony Orchestra's (SSO) Music Director, Kenji Fusé, is offering concertgoers a collection of well-known chamber orchestra works from Bach, Mozart, and Respighi, and music from other invited guests, including the Comox Valley Flute Choir.

The concert program, titled Intimate Voices, will be performed one night only at Courtenay’s St. George’s United Church on Saturday, March 14th, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available on the SSO website, https://strathcona-symphony-orchestra.tickit.ca/, or at the door (cash sales only). Ticket prices for adults are $25.00 and $15.00 for children twelve years old and under.

Bach’s Brandenberg Concertos are one of the most recognized and popular works in baroque music. Commissioned by and dedicated to the Margrave of Brandenburg, Bach created a masterful composition which should be experienced in a live performance setting to be fully appreciated and enjoyed. The SSO will be performing Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 including the participation of Kenji Fusé on the viola part.

Other iconic pieces for the March 14th concert include Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor and Respighi’s Suite No. 3, as well as selections from invited musical guests. Symphony No. 40 is the most popular of Mozart’s 41 symphonies, and it was one of the most played pieces in the classical repertoire (as of December 2025, YouTube accounts for over six million views). Respighi’s composition offers concertgoers a chance to soak in a bit of Mediterranean sunshine with the piece’s light and airy composition.
