In Association with the Sydney Fringe Festival, we present:
"So pretty much, if you don't pass my death off as legitimate, we will all die.".
In this insane original farce, an underpaid undertaker takes on quite the undertaking: faking the funeral of an MI6 agent to avert a nuclear war. Standing in his way will be wailing French widows, inheritance-hungry offspring, self-obsessed actors and a Russian spy with a soft-spot for the stage. Set to premiere on September 12, this is sure to be the Fringe Festival's funniest, funeralest farce.
Barry is a 25-30 year old man who is stuck in a job he doesn’t like. The lead comic character, he blunders and struggles throughout escalating circumstances which aren’t helped by his clueless attitude, desire to be loved and general foolishness. He is high energy, but always seems seconds from tripping over his own feet.
Hector is an older man (around 60). While powerful and stern, he is also a mysterious father figure. His obtuse and upright nature gives him a strong sense of authority. This is a highly physical role, so younger actors will be considered.
Zoe/Chloe are twins played by the same actress, both young and glamorous women. Though very similar, and frequently confused by the other characters, they are polar opposites: Chloe is manipulative and trying to rob her father's estate and ruin her twin sister's happiness. Zoe is sweeter in disposition, mourning the loss of her father and madly in love with Hollywood actor Sandy Costello
Candice is a 30/40 year old widow. She speaks with a highly over the top French accent. She claims to be the wife of Hector, but needs some sort of legal proof of this to not be deported.
Vavrinik is a Russian Spy sent to steal some nuclear codes from the body of the deceased Hector. He speaks with a thick Russian accent, and while is a spy, is a bumbling obvious one. On top of that, he doesn’t really want to be a spy; he is a sensitive soul whose love of theatre is always on the back of his mind
Sandy is a young Hollywood actor. He is marrying Zoe Caine, the daughter of Hector Caine (whose funeral he is attending). Sandy is a slightly narcissistic and grandiose actor but does want to be liked (especially by Hector).
