About The Show: Suggested Donation: $20-$25 There will be a donation basket. All money goes to the performers. We love supporting independent musicians who bring live music into our homes! About: Karen Mal & David Stoddard The collaboration of Karen Mal (based in Texas) and David Stoddard (from Minnesota) has its roots in their meeting at the Kerrville Folk Festival two decades ago. Since then, they have done the festival circuits, played solo and with others, recorded, taught (David), composed for and acted in regional theatre (Karen). David says, "We've toured together with other people over the years and have often talked about forming an actual duo, where we write and arrange songs together with an eye toward performing them as a duo." Which they have now done, and tonight we get to hear the results. What People Are Saying About Karen Mal & David Stoddard: Karen is a Northern Sky veteran, having originated roles in Lumberjacks in Love, Belgians in Heaven, and more recently Whatever Happened to Karl Janko? She goes back so far in the company that the fall season box office line once rang in her kitchen, in a cottage on Gibraltar Road. Karen is also thrilled to be working as music director with Door Shakespeare this summer. She and her daughter Coralina live in Austin, Texas where Karen works at Austin Scottish Rite Theater as an actor, music director and sound designer. In her last role she appeared in Pippi Longstocking as a flabbergasted proper Swedish lady with crazy hair at a tea party. Karen is also a multi-instrumentalist and award-winning songwriter and just released a brand-new album of original songs with her musical partner David Stoddard. He's also a successful songwriter. He's a Kerrville New Folk winner and has taken top writing honors at the Minnesota Folk Festival, the South Florida Folk Festival, and the Tucson Folk Festival. He tours throughout the US and Canada.
