- **Event Description**: Join us on Tuesday, July 22nd at the Axe and Fiddle Public House from 5 to 7 PM for Breathless: Celebrating Salamanders and Their Small Wild Spaces, a presentation by biologist and author, Tom Titus.

Tom is an amphibian biologist, forager, father, grandfather, and free-range philosopher who writes at the messy interface of human experience and the natural world. He somehow corralled divergent paths in music, education, and biology into a career in evolutionary genetics, from which he is gratefully retired. Tom has authored three books of essays and poetry inspired by spawning salmon, the silence of salamanders, wind in old trees, and a decaying house in the Coast Range. He is passionate about salamanders and loves bourbon straight, coffee stiff, salsa hot, and writing that makes him laugh and cry, preferably at the same time. We host these family-friendly events on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5-7pm at the Axe & Fiddle, 657 E. Main St. in Cottage Grove. 
Events begin with informal socializing, trivia, and updates about the watershed and watershed council. The Science on Tap presentation begins at 6pm.  

The event is free to the public, with a $5 donation suggested.
