Olive Memorial Park & Mortuary was established on April 8, 1956. Since its founding, it has become a preferred resting place for many members of the Jewish community. The history of Harbor Lawn dates to when the Long Beach District Board of Rabbis approached the Flanigan Family at Harbor Rest Memorial Park. Following their agreement, Harbor Lawn was inaugurated as the first Jewish cemetery in Orange County (Taft, see JLife, 3/2/2024). Since then, Harbor Lawn has remained dedicated to respecting and upholding the sacred burial traditions as outlined in Scripture.Part of this commitment includes the upkeep of cemetery consecrations by rabbis and the congregation of the Jewish faith for new developments. When a cemetery expands, according to tradition, the congregation walks the perimeter of the dedicated earth seven times, similar to the way a bride circles the groom at a wedding ceremony.Join us on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at 2:00 PM for this longstanding tradition—a unique and rare opportunity to participate in.
