On Saturday 28th February, Heritage Malta invites history and fashion enthusiasts to a one-day seminar at the Inquisitor’s Palace, Birgu, titled Hats Off!. The seminar complements the ongoing exhibition of the same name, which explores the role of hats in shaping European fashion, culture, and social identity at the turn of the 20th century – a period marked by dramatic change at the dawn of the modern age.
This seminar coincides with the final day of the exhibition, offering a unique opportunity to experience it alongside expert insights and in-depth discussion.
The event starts with registration at 8:30am, followed by seven guest speakers examining headwear from linguistic, social, ecclesiastical, artistic, and conservation perspectives. A coffee break at 11:00am will precede the second part of the programme. The language of the event will vary between Maltese and English.
