June 19 marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers informed enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, of their freedom—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. 

The Linn Benton NAACP will celebrate with the following:

THIS YEAR's THEME: Homecoming. 
Homecoming as a Juneteenth theme is an invitation to return not just to a place, it is an invitation connected to our shared history, our collective memory, and our enduring strength. It is a powerful way to strengthen the connection between family, friends, and our shared legacy of resistance and survival. It calls us back to the truths that shape us.
