Discover the art of finishing touches! In this beginner-friendly sewing class, you’ll learn the timeless skills of sewing hems and buttons. These are two of the most useful techniques for anyone who wants to feel confident with a sewing machine. Whether you’ve never sewn before or already have a few projects under your belt, this class is designed for all skill levels and will guide you step by step at your own pace.

What you’ll learn:

How to sew clean, professional-looking hems on a sewing machine

Techniques for attaching different types of buttons securely with a sewing machine

Tips and tricks for neat finishes that make your projects last longer

Ways to add unique details that make your clothing one-of-a-kind

Hems and buttons may be small details, but they make a big difference. Beyond learning how to mend and finish garments with confidence, this class will show you how hems and buttons can become creative elements such as a pop of color, an unexpected detail, or a design statement that reflects your personal style. By the end, you’ll not only master these essential skills but also unlock new ways to enhance your clothes with artistic flair.

Everything is provided.

You don’t have to bring anything though you are more than welcome to if you can! We have five sewing machines and one serger amongst participants. If you have an extra serger or a sewing machine, please bring it—you’ll be able to work at your own pace and get comfortable with your own equipment.


Instructor:

Meet your instructor, Shirin Delsooz of Havah Designs—a creative entrepreneur in fashion design and a stay-at-home mom who homeschools her two children. With a background in communications and marketing, Shirin is dedicated to making fashion accessible, fun, and inspiring for everyone. She creates digital sewing patterns, produces step-by-step YouTube tutorials, and even designs 3D-printed purses, bringing a modern approach to DIY fashion.
