*This class is for ages 16+*
This is a beginner, two-day print-making course. Students will create an edition of ten black and white relief prints from linocut images. Additionally, participants can expect to learn various printing techniques such as proofing, blend-rolling, and chine collé.
Day 1 will focus on image development, image transfer, and block carving.
Day 2 will focus on different printing techniques to alter printed media.
Supplies for block carving and printing will be provided!
Instructor Bio:
Joey Gonzales IV
As a recent graduate of Texas A&M Corpus Christi University, Joey explored different facets of their identity through printmaking and ceramic mediums. For nearly a decade, Joey’s art practice has included: curating art shows in Corpus Christi, participating in shows across the country, and gaining recognition for their contribution to Latinx art and culture. In 2024, Joey’s print, “Dream Eater” was printed and archived by Texas A&M Kingsville during the annual steamroller event at the Kingsville Ranch Hand Festival. Joey’s contribution to South Texas culture has caught the attention of the Bend Magazine featuring Joey’s curatorial work within the LGBTQIA+ art community. Whether it’s printmaking or ceramic work, Joey’s art ranges from large to small-scale prints and ceramic sculptures that are packed with intriguing line work, bold color composition, and strong elements of personal narration.
