- **Event Description**: A course designed to connect the best of this beautiful and historic park and to be a runner's dream run. The course, named "The Rocket", takes advantage of as much of the long and wide tree lined promenades starting at the Kennedy Circle, in front of the Fountain of the Continents and the massive Unisphere, racing down the Avenue of Africa, across the United Nations Avenue, onto the Avenue of Asia and then the Path of Peace and onto the Meadow Lake Bridge that gives you a breathtaking view of NYC.  It passes the manicured lawns on Ederle Circle and onto the promenade, goes alongside the worn cricket fields teaming with players from near and afar, and then back over the bridge.  Finally, the course goes onto the tree lined Avenue of the Americas and Path of Commerce, passes the fountain of the planets and turns onto Herbert Hoover Promenade where you'll see soccer teams of all ages and from everywhere ferociously competing in their morning matches. You cross in front of the glorious symbol of strength and hope, the Rocket Thrower, where you'll need to flex, because you are not going home without a picture with this in the background.                                                                There is no place better for a footrace that brings together the international community that represents Queens as we near the end of the year.  The half marathon is four loops of this on a 3.27 mile course. The 10K is two loops of this on a 3.1 mile course. The 5K is one loop on a 3.1 mile course.  Three support stations to keep you energized and refreshed are placed at every mile and there are portable and public restrooms at multiple locations. Finisher medals and technical T-Shirts for all runners, age group awards, music, personal ideo, finish line and course pictures, and lots of post race food and drink.  Let's do this!!!
