Dub In The Valley
⛰️ Kauaeranga Valley Hall, Thames
🗓️ Friday 6 February 2026 - Waitangi Day
⌚ Noon to 9pm
💰 Community event, gold coin entry
🍗 BYO picnic and blanket, no alcohol sales
Come and celebrate the unity of Waitangi Day (and Bob Marley’s birthday) with an afternoon of reggae soundsystem vibes at the beautiful Kauaeranga Valley Hall - on the fringes of the Coromandel Forest Park.
Auckland soundsystem operator Red Robin is bringing his Reggae Rodeo (large speaker stacks and amps) to fill the valley with bass-heavy riddims spanning the full spectrum of the reggae atmosphere.
He’s joined by respected reggae vinyl DJs Undercover (Sandy Bay Social Club, Thames), Empress Naima (Auckland), live dub producer Burning Soundz (Auckland), plus special guests playing throughout the day.
It’s a laid-back affair, running from noon to 9pm. Bring your picnic, blanket, plenty of water, a few coldies (no food or alcohol sales onsite), the kids, your hat and sunscreen, and your dancing shoes - although barefoot is best.
Thames is only 90 minutes from Auckland, and the Kauaeranga Valley Hall sits just 10 minutes from the Thames township, nestled up the valley. It’s a perfect day trip, or make a weekend of it by pitching a tent and camping at one of nine DOC sites located just another 10 minutes further up the valley. Enjoy beautiful river swims, birdsong, and bush walks such as the popular Pinnacles Track.
The aim is simple: bring people together in unity to chill, dance, and enjoy good company - so bring your best vibes and manners. This is a gold coin, non-profit community event, with any proceeds going to the Aotearoa Sounds for Jamaica Hurricane Relief Fund.

The event is outdoors and weather dependant, keep an eye on the weather and we’ll keep you updated. Parking is available opposite the hall. Please arrive carefully, drive safely, and watch for pedestrians. Water, tea, and coffee will be available inside, but please bring your own food and refreshments, and take all rubbish home with you. Please don’t drink and drive.
The event is made possible with a small grant from Creative Coromandel and the good folk giving up their time to bring you this event.
