Employer Breakfast: Untapped Workforce Part 1 - Criminal Record Checks

Are you struggling to find reliable employees? With the changing job market, the Employability Network is here to help you explore our local untapped workforce, increase employee retention and create a more inclusive workplace. Fill your HR needs by learning more about criminal backgrounds. It is Estimates are that about 1 in 9 Canadians, about 13% of the population, have a criminal record. A line up of guest speakers will give you a local, global and legal perspective on hiring candidates with criminal backgrounds. You will also have the opportunity to ask our panel any questions or concerns your organization may have. We want to thank Sandra Marleau from Olymel, Geoff Clark from the City of Cornwall and Patti Carson from Clinique Juridique Roy McMurtry Legal Clinic SDG for sharing their expertise and experiences with us.

“In our day and age, a focus must be the bottom line to be profitable, however we also need to pay attention to the means to get there.  X+Y does not always equal Z. Experience is always on the top of the list for most jobs. Why not put this experience to work and increase the bottom line” Jason Jesmer, Drake International

“We provide employment services to clients with criminal records and we’ve observed that many employers, who are open to hiring these individuals, have had success in keeping these individuals long term.” Carine MacMillan, Employment Consultant – Job Zone d’empoi.
