If your flock ended up with more crowers than you bargained for, we've got you covered.

Hatch It House is proud to offer a humane and responsible option for our customers and poultry keepers throughout Northern California to rehome surplus roosters. This event helps ensure unwanted birds don't end up abandoned, neglected, or in the wrong hands while providing a respectful end that helps feed our families and others in need.

🔍 Details

🐓 Roosters must be between 5 months and 1 year of age

❤️ Birds must be in good health with no visible signs of illness or disease.

🐔 Standard breeds are preferred. Bantam roosters are generally not accepted due to their limited processing value.

🌲 Open to all Northern California residents.

⭐ Hatch It House customers will receive priority if we begin approaching our collection limit.

📦 We will continue accepting birds until we reach capacity of approximately 60 roosters.

💵 There is no collection fee, and no monetary compensation will be provided for birds accepted during this event.

🪺 Please transport birds in secure crates, pet carriers, or well-ventilated boxes. Be prepared to transfer your birds into one of our holding pens during drop-off. Your crates or carriers will go back home with you.

🚫 This is a collection event only. Birds will not be returned after drop-off.

⚠️ We reserve the right to refuse any bird that appears unhealthy or does not meet the event requirements.

What happens to the birds?
Unless your rooster plays fetch, helps with chores, or brings you your morning coffee (and believe us, we've tested), they'll be processed humanely and used to help feed our families and others in need.

If your bird turns out to be a real gem, we might let him retire here, but don't bet the feed bucket on it.

This event helps ensure your extra roosters don't end up dumped, neglected, or worse. It's our way of closing the loop with care, respect, and intention.
