Dr Con Murphy - a Tribute & Celebration
The Artane Band is a marching band for young musicians based at the Artane School of Music in Dublin. It was originally called the Artane Boys Band but changed it's name to the Artane Band in 2004 when girls were first admitted. They are best known for playing at GAA matches in Croke Park and leading the All-Ireland final teams pre-match procession around the pitch. They are performing before and during tonight's event led by Artane School of Music director Ronan O'Reilly.
John Spillane is a singer-songwriter from Cork and one of Ireland's best loved artists. He is performing at tonight's event. Spillane has been involved with several bands over the years but most notably The Stargazers. He toured the world with the group and together they produced two albums before he left to pursue a solo career.
LIAM O CONNOR
Liam O'Connor is a multi-instrumentalist musician from Cork and has been refereed to as the Jimi Hendrix of the accordion. His performance combines elements of blues, jazz, reggae, samba, cajun and classical and is highly energetic. He has sold out tours in the USA, Scandinavia, Italy and Australia and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records in 2008 as having the fastest fingers in the world on the accordion. He is performing during tonight's show.
