The idea for The Mother Hood was born the way most things in motherhood are: out of need. A need for connection, for real conversation, for space to show up as just yourself — not someone’s mom, not someone’s partner — just you.

We didn’t want another Facebook group.
We didn’t want a parenting lecture.
We wanted a room full of women who get it.

So two Long Island moms — Alexa & Christina — partnered with our local library to create something simple but powerful:
Free monthly gatherings for moms.
No registration. No cost. No pressure.
Just coffee, crumb cake, and a circle of women willing to talk about the real stuff.

? This isn’t a playgroup. It’s not a workshop. It’s not about the kids.
It’s a movement to reclaim identity, intimacy, and community in the chaos of motherhood.

Starting this fall, we’re proud to become an official program of the Middle Country Public Library, open to in-district and out-of-district moms alike.

It deserves a rebirth, too.
