- **Event Description**: Our nervous systems is how our brain communicates with our body and is made up of the central and the peripheral nervous systems. The brain and spinal cord are the basis of our central nervous system (CNS), while all other nerves that travel out from the CNS to the rest of the body are identified as the peripheral nervous system. Nerve damage can cause serious health problems such as neuropathy (“neuro” meaning “neuron or nerve”, and “pathy” meaning “condition”).

While we can identify the presence of neuropathy, it is not clear why these conditions lead to neuropathy; and those symptoms can affect numerous your comfort, sleep, balance, activity level, and confidence. Burning, tingling, numbness, sensitivity, weakness, or pain make simple routines feel unpredictable. Medication may be part of your care, but it is not the only conversation worth having. There are other methods to stop and even reverse nerve damage.

On June 24, Body Moves will host Dr. Mohamed Karim of the Iowa Wellness Center  who will teach about the causes of peripheral neuropathy, the dangers of prescribed medicines, and how a different protocol may provide relief.
