- **Event Description**: We’re taking this no-school day to the moon! Just after a rare total lunar eclipse (more details below!), kids and families are invited to dig deeper into lunar science through hands-on play, exploration, and imagination.

Throughout the morning, our PLAYologists will lead interactive activities that help children learn how eclipses happen, explore cultural stories about the Moon, and discover how scientists are studying the lunar surface today.

A space-themed scavenger hunt will be available all day. From 9 a.m. to noon, PLAYologists will facilitate special, hands-on activities:

*Hide and Seek Moon: Use child-friendly binoculars, visual tools, and storytelling to learn how different cultures interpret the Moon’s changing shapes
*Build a Moon Base Camp: Design a lunar habitat inspired by real-world space missions! Use blocks, add survival stickers, and face lunar challenges inspired by NASA’s Artemis Mission.
- All activities are included with museum admission (free for members). Come ready to play, build, and discover what makes our closest celestial neighbor so fascinating!

About Eclipses: There are two types of eclipses: lunar and solar. During a lunar eclipse, Earth’s shadow obscures the Moon. During a solar eclipse, the Moon blocks the Sun from view. On March 3rd, there will be a total lunar eclipse known as a “Blood Moon.” Prep your kids by observing it the night before, and then come in the next day to learn how NASA is exploring the lunar surface.

Please note: Activities from 9-10 a.m. are available during our Member-Only Hours. We open to the public at 10:00 a.m. and invite all learners to join us from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
