Copperas Cove, Texas – The City of Copperas Cove, in partnership with the Parks & Recreation Department, Hill Country Community Action Association (HCCAA), and the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce, will host a Senior Center Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at 2400 Walker Place Blvd.

In recent years, the Copperas Cove City Council provided direction to sell the former Senior Center facility and utilize those proceeds to help develop an improved location to better serve the community’s senior population. In May 2023, City Council authorized the sale of the property for $588,000, and in July 2024 they authorized the purchase of property for the new facility at 2402 Walker Place Blvd for $385,000. Additional funding for the project was identified in the City’s 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan. 

Project expenses to date are $236,284 for services provided by Elements of Architecture, Inc. for site selection, design, planning, and construction oversight, as well as $3,161,835 for property and construction costs.

In February 2023, City Council also approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Hill Country Community Action Association (HCCAA) to assume operational management of the Senior Center. This partnership has proven to be both positive and successful in expanding services and opportunities for the senior community.
