“WHITEOUT” er en tankevækkende og livsbekræftende danseforestilling om at miste. Når man befinder sig i et arktisk whiteout – et naturfænomen, hvor sneen hvirvler rundt, og alt bliver hvidt – kan man opleve en fornemmelse, der minder om sorg: enhver følelse af retning forsvinder.
”WHITEOUT” vandt i 2025 Reumert prisen for Årets Danseforestilling, og Aviaja Dance går med forestillingen tæt på det smertefulde savn, de ubærlige tanker, den skam og de tabuer, der omgiver selvmord.
På den anden side af et whiteout, som har krævet indsigt og refleksion, placeres man på ny i verden – vi finder hinanden og skaber forbindelser på tværs.
Forestillingen kaster et vigtigt blik på et emne, som vi som udenforstående ikke må være berøringsangste overfor. Samtidig udforsker forestillingen det livsbekræftende, som de efterladte ofte fortæller om: evnen til at reflektere over værdien af relationer og fællesskaber og ikke mindst taknemmeligheden over at have kendt.
I “WHITEOUT” kropsliggøres sorgen og savnet, men også håbet, styrken og troen på livets kraft og mening.
Forestillingen er kurateret af CPH STAGE og præsenteres i samarbejde med Aviaja Dance og Dansehallerne.

(ENG) “WHITEOUT” – a thought-provoking and life-affirming dance performance about loss. When you find yourself in an Arctic whiteout – a natural phenomenon where snow swirls around, and everything turns white – you may experience a sensation similar to grief: any sense of direction disappears.
“WHITEOUT” delves into the painful longing, unbearable thoughts, shame, and taboos surrounding suicide.
On the other side of a whiteout, which demands introspection and reflection, you find yourself re-anchored in the world – we reconnect and create bonds across divides.
The performance sheds an important light on a topic that we, as outsiders, must not shy away from. At the same time, it explores the life-affirming aspects that the bereaved often speak of: the ability to reflect on the value of relationships and communities, and, above all, the gratitude for having known someone.
In “WHITEOUT”, grief and longing are embodied, but so are hope, strength, and faith in the power and meaning of life.
“WHITEOUT” won the award for Dance Performance of the Year 2025 at Årets Reumert .
The piece premiered at Dansehallerne (DK) in February 2025 and has since toured in Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
