- **Event Description**: On the eve of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine House in Denmark, the Danish Cultural Institute, and Det Ny Teater invite you to a special edition of Voices of Dignity — a poetic and musical performance about Ukrainian literature and the enduring power of freedom, dignity, and moral resistance.

Created in February 2024, Voices of Dignity has grown into a living dialogue between Ukrainian literature and European audiences. Ukrainian authors read their texts in the original language, while renowned Danish actors perform the same works in Danish. Music is also an integral part of the performance.

The 2026 edition "Ukrainian Voices – Stories of Freedom” unfolds as a literary journey through Ukrainian thought and resistance: from Lesia Ukrainka, through the writers of the Executed Renaissance and the Ukrainian dissident movement of the 1960s, to contemporary voices shaped by today’s war. Texts by Lesia Ukrainka, Mykola Khvylovy, Vasyl Stus, Victoria Amelina, Iryna Tsilyk, Artur Dron, Valeriy Puzik, and others reflect how human rights, courage, and resistance remain central to Ukrainian literature across generations.

This year’s keynote speaker is Oleksandra Matviichuk, human rights defender and Nobel Peace Prize laureate (2022).

? Ukrainian poetry will be given a Danish voice by acclaimed actors Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Ellen Hillingsø, Christine Albeck Børge, and Bodil Jørgensen.

Voices of Dignity is more than a literary event — it is an act of memory, resistance, and responsibility, and the language of free people, written without illusion yet without surrender.
