Metalbandet The Sword har skabt deres egen håndlavede og dybdegående mytologi, understøttet af uomtvistelige og uforudsigelige guitareksplosioner, cinematiske temaer og overjordiske koncepter. Efter en to-årig pause, er bandet nu genopstået til fejringen af 15-årsjubilæet for albummet ’Warp Riders’. Nu skriver de deres næste kapitel med en ny turné og ny musik i horisonten. Du kan opleve, eller genopleve, bandet i Amager Bio 11. maj 2026. Med som support tager de det psykedeliske rockband Earthless. 

Bandet blev dannet i 2003 i Austin, Texas og har udgivet 6 studiealbum. Det store gennembrud kom med det andet album ’Gods of the Earth’ fra 2008, som gav dem deres første album på Billboards 200 album chart. I 2010 udgav de konceptalbummet ’Warp Riders’, der centrerede om en science fiction-historie, skrevet af frontmanden JD Cronise. Bandet har gennem tiden turneret med en bred vifte af rock- og metalbands som Metallica, Lamb of God og Clutch. 

The Sword er blevet kategoriseret som doom metal, og har siden starten været inspireret af stoner rock-bands som Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin og Blue Cheer. Tekstuniverset drager inspiration fra nordisk mytologi og giganter i den litterære verden, som George R. R. Martin, H. P. Lovecraft og Arthur C. Clarke.
