DJ WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS PROGRAM
In this DJ workshop we will focus on: What does a DJ do? How does a DJ think? What does it mean to convey music to a crowd? Artistic expression, how to build a playlist and select tracks?
Technical skills: How to use DJ equipment both hardware & software. What is on the market and how do you get started? We will mix tracks, work on transitions, EQ'ing, BPM and beat matching. DJ Software and hardware knowledge. All participants learn how to mix with Rekordbox!
Part of our course also focuses on gender-related challenges; What should you relate to as a female DJ? Safe spaces and working in nightlife. In addition, we conclude with advice on; How to get booked? How do you negotiate fees? How do you promote yourself? etc.
After finishing the workshop there will be the opportunity to continue practicing your dj skills, and joining our closed network group for womxn DJs. After practice, you have the possibility to DJ in front of a "real" crowd at Kimia during weekends. This is a great opportunity to try out your material/DJ Set, and we hope that it can boost even more future DJ bookings.
A few things to note:
This is a women/femme & non-binary event only.
Future Female Sounds is a community. We encourage, empower, and support each other as female/femme identifying/non-binary people.
The DJ Workshop takes place in a safe space where you can be/come as you are without judgement.
There is no "One way to DJ", so work with the music that YOU are most passionate about, don't think too much about genres ;-)
We look forward to meeting you & developing your DJ skills!
