Fordyb dig i kunst, talks, samtaler, musik og mad, når Glyptoteket igen slår dørene op til Slow, denne gang med temaet ’dyr’. 

Hvorfor fylder køer pludselig så meget i 1800-tallets kunst? Hvordan endte levende løver i Paris? Kan en elefant egentlig løbe som andre dyr? Og hvad kan små skulpturer fortælle os om, hvordan mennesker har set på dyr og natur? 

Med afsæt i udstillingen Dyrenes indtog. Skulpturer af Antoine-Louis Barye sætter vi fokus på vilde dyr, kæledyr, dyreguder og offerdyr. Vi går på opdagelse i detaljerige skildringer af dyr i kunsten, og vi dykker ned i dyrerettigheder, videnskab og menneskets blik på naturen.

Samtale og oplæg
- Hvordan opstod de første zoologiske haver, og hvad fortæller de om datidens syn på dyr og natur? Kurator Christine Horwitz Tommerup møder biolog og formand for Dyreetisk Råd, Bengt Holst.
- Tv-vært og hundeelsker Puk Elgård, biolog og dyreekspert Anders Kofoed samt skuespiller og katteentusiast Rasmus Botoft udforsker det særlige bånd mellem mennesker og kæledyr.


Kunst og værkfordybelser
- Få en introduktion til den aktuelle særudstilling om Antoine-Louis Baryes fascinerende dyreskulpturer
- Hør om, hvilken rolle dyr spillede  i oldtidens Mesopotamien
- Oplev historierne bag dyreguderne, de mumificerede dyr og en religion, hvor natur og tro smeltede sammen.
- Køer har sat tydelige spor i dansk kunst. Vi følger koens rejse gennem værker af J.Th. Lundbye og Theodor Philipsen


Tegneværksted
- Dyrecroquis. Tag plads blandt Ægyptens dyr, og udforsk skulpturernes former, detaljer og udtryk med blyant og papir.

OM SLOW

På udvalgte torsdage slår Glyptoteket dørene op for Slow – et aftenkoncept med kunst, talks, musik og omvisninger. Hver gang med et nyt tema hentet i kunstens dybeste lag.  
Mange kender Glyptoteket som et rum for fordybelse og eftertænksomhed. Den oplevelse forstærkes, når Glyptoteket på særlige aftener blænder op for et program, der går helt tæt på kunsten og dens nok væsentligste kvalitet: invitationen til fordybelse. 


MAD OG DRIKKE I PALMERNES SKYGGE

I caféen Picnic og museets frodige Vinterhave kan du med udsigt til romerske skulpturer spise aftensmad og få et godt glas. I baren i Vinterhaven vil der hele aftenen være mulighed for at købe drikkevarer og snacks.

Slow – An Evening on Animals 


Immerse yourself in art, talks, conversations, music, and food when Glyptoteket once again opens its doors for Slow — this time with the theme of animals. 

Why do cows suddenly occupy such a prominent place in 19th-century art? How did living lions end up in Paris? Can an elephant really run like other animals? And what can small sculptures tell us about how humans have viewed animals and nature? 

Taking the exhibition Animals takes the stage. Sculptures by Antoine-Louis Barye as our point of departure, we turn the spotlight on wild animals, pets, animal gods, and sacrificial animals. We explore richly detailed depictions of animals in art, while delving into animal rights, science, and the human gaze upon nature.

- How did the first zoological gardens come into being, and what do they reveal about past attitudes towards animals and nature? Curator Christine Horwitz Tommerup joins biologist and Chair of the Danish Council on Animal Ethics, Bengt Holst, for a conversation
- TV host and dog lover Puk Elgård, biologist and animal expert Anders Kofoed, known from GO' Morgen Danmark, and actor and cat enthusiast Rasmus Botoft in a conversation about the unique bond between humans and their pets.


Art
- Join us for an introduction to the current special exhibition on Antoine-Louis Barye's captivating animal sculptures.
- Learn about the role animals played in ancient Mesopotamia.
- Discover the stories behind animal gods, mummified animals, and a religion where nature and belief were deeply intertwined.
- Cows have left a lasting mark on Danish art. Follow their journey through works by J.Th. Lundbye and Theodor Philipsen.


Drawing Workshop
- Take a seat among the animals of Ancient Egypt and explore the sculptures' shapes, details, and expressions with pencil and paper.

On selected Thursdays, Glyptoteket opens the doors for Slow – an evening concept with art, talks, music, food and drinks. Each time with a new theme drawn from the deepest layers of art.  
Many know Glyptoteket as a space for contemplation and reflection. This experience is enhanced when, on special evenings, Glyptoteket presents a program that invites you to come close to the art and immerse yourself. 


FOOD AND DRINKS IN THE SHADE OF THE PALM TREES

In the museum café Picnic you can have dinner and a cold beer with a view of Roman sculptures. In the bar in the Winter Garden, it will be possible to buy drinks and snacks all evening.

Attending Slow only requires a standard ticket to the Glyptotek. We recommend that you book your ticket online in advance – this way you will skip the line and save 10% on the price. 

Season ticket holder: free entrance.
