Step into a festive world where living rituals, family traditions, and the craftsmanship of Ukrainian artisans and artists bring light, hope, and a sense of home — even in times of distance and hardship. For Ukrainians, Christmas is more than a date: it is family, renewal, and unity. This exhibition shares that spirit with Copenhagen.

Discover traditional festive clothing, ceramics, carpets, and ritual decorations, together with archival carol recordings, authentic Christmas recipes, and contemporary artworks that reinterpret folk crafts. Highlights include hand-woven carpets, Triytsia candleholders, and carved chests, as well as a special section on Sviata Vecheria — the twelve-dish Holy Supper curated by food culture researcher Olena Braichenko — all set within a magical soundscape of ancient and modern carols and shchedrivky.

The exhibition opens on November 29 at 17:00 at Ukraine House in Denmark, Gammel Dok, Strandgade 27B, Copenhagen. The opening event will feature a guided tour and a Christmas concert by Endangered Songs, a collective of young Ukrainian singers reviving carols from regions that have stood — and still stand — on the front line.

“Coming Home for Christmas” is organized by Ukraine House in Denmark in cooperation with the National Center “Ukrainian House” (Kyiv) and in partnership with the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine. Curators: Mariia Kvitka and Oleksii Ananov. 

The exhibition runs from November 29, 2025, to February 1, 2026.

??? Український Дім у Данії запрошує мешканців і гостей Копенгагена відчути тепло та магію українського Різдва на виставці “ДоДому на Різдво”. 

Різдво для українців — це завжди більше, ніж календарна дата. Це сімейність, відродження та світло, що єднає покоління. Це час, коли дім відкритий для гостей, і кожному знайдеться місце.

Сьогодні, коли багато родин не можуть зібратися за одним святковим столом, символічне відчуття спільного дому — України — набуває особливої глибини й долає будь-які кордони та відстані. Саме тому ми відкриваємо двері Українського Дому в Данії — аби вікові традиції, колядки, ремесла й знаки свята знову об’єднали нас у Копенгагені.

В експозиції ви побачите традиційний святковий одяг, кераміку, килими, обрядові прикраси, архівні записи колядок, автентичні рецепти та роботи сучасних українських митців, що переосмислюють народні ремесла. Серед ключових експонатів — домоткані килими, святкові строї, “Трійці” й мальовані скрині. Окремий розділ присвячено Святій Вечері — дванадцяти символічним пісним стравам у дослідженні Олени Брайченко. Атмосферу доповнює магічне звучання давніх і сучасних колядок та щедрівок.

Відкриття виставки відбудеться 29 листопада о 17:00 в Українському Домі у Данії, Gammel Dok, Strandgade 27B, Копенгаген. Під час відкриття відбудеться кураторська екскурсія та різдвяний концерт колективу Endangered Songs — українських співачок, які відроджують колядки з регіонів, що знаходились й досі знаходяться на передовій.
