NILS GRÖNDAHL + Sanne Dasseville + Own Road + Carolyn Mark (Can) + Rowan Coupland
NILS GRÖNDAHL - Danish violionist and noisemaker. He is simply one man on the stage with his violin and many loop pedals. In front of the audience he builds up walls of sound and noise with his amplifiers. He is trapped in his endless repetition and the variations of the repetitions. On his knees he cries a primal scream to break the wall of sound as a musical and ritual cleansing
CAROLYN MARK (Can) was raised on a dairy farm in British Columbia. She grew up to play in and with many bands – including The Corn Sisters, Neko Case, Frog Eyes, The Sadies, & Great Lake Swimmers - deciding eventually to "go solo" figuring that it might be harder to break up with herself. In 2009 she co-released ’Let's Just Stay Here’ with Toronto's NQ Arbuckle. The album was nominated for a 2010 Juno Award in theRoots & Traditional Album category. The album was also one of Popmatters! top 10 album in their Best Country Music list. She did win a West Coast Music Award for Best Roots Album by a Duo or Group which resides proudly on her mother's living room table.
In September 2016, Mark released her eighth solo album, Come! Back! Special! and is currently working on a follow up tentatively titled Off Seasonand a concert tour movie called The Road to Success.
Miss Mark is also the author of a best-selling instructional manual entitled How to be a Boozy Chanteuse.
She has played her blend of cabaret country/folk at bars, schools, churches, abattoirs, barns, train stations, breweries, vineyards, montastaries and once did a house concert tour of Northern Saskatchewan and Northern Manitoba where she headlined the taxidermy museum in The Pas!
OWN ROAD - is Simon Skjødt Jensen’s one-man band. Based in Copenhagen Simon's music exists in a twilight space between American folk music, singer-songwriter and psychedelica. With a beautiful voice (sometimes through the use of looping vocal effects), guitar, ukulele and more exotic instruments Simon’s compositions move effortlessly between anxiety, melodic beauty and otherworldly abandon
ROWAN COUPLAND (UK) is a singer, harpist and guitarist. English-born, but Berlin-based, he sings soaring modern folksongs filtered through noise, avant-garde poetry, and the sounds of snow falling through urban smog
