Forestil dig, at menneskenes tidsalder er forbi, og skildpadder, langsomme, venlige, ældgamle, vandrer rundt på jorden. Ville de drømme om disse mærkelige primater, der fik deres chance, men fejlede så grelt? I musikteater forestillingen Dreaming Turtles bliver de fire performere fra Helsinki-baserede Oblivia netop det: drømmende, svævende, dansende og syngende skildpadder. Skabt i samarbejde med det schweiziske ensemble KlangLab og komponisten Yiran Zhao bygger forestillingen en hel verden af bevægelser, ord, sange og livemusik, vittig, komisk og på kanten af det absurde. Dreaming Turtles er ikke et nedslående stykke, for i skildpaddernes drømmende tilgang til livet gemmer sig et glimt af håb, der stadig skinner for menneskeheden.

Imagine the era of humankind is over and turtles, slow, friendly, ancient, roam the earth. Would they dream of these strange primates who had their chance, but failed so miserably? In the music theatre work Dreaming Turtles, the four performers of Helsinki-based Oblivia become just that: dreaming, floating, dancing and singing turtles. Created with Swiss ensemble KlangLab and composer Yiran Zhao, the piece builds an entire world from movements, words, songs and live music, witty, comical and bordering on the absurd. Yet Dreaming Turtles is not a depressing piece, because within the turtles' dreamlike approach to life lies a speck of hope that still shimmers for humanity.
