Imarhan, der har deres hjem i Tamanrasset i det sydlige Algeriet, hvor de også har bygget deres eget studie, føjer sig sammen med navne som Tinariwen og Mdou Moctar smukt til rækken af orkestre, der med rødder i den nomadiske tuareg-kultur, har betaget resten af verden med hypnotiske og elektriske guitar-hymner. Imarhan har dog taget tuareg-folkets musik i en mere urban og groovy retning, hvor inspiration fra soul, rock og Algeriets raï-musik blandes med de folkede rødder og hypnotiske jams. Musikken afspejler både tuareg-stammens spirituelle rødder i det nordlige Mali og en moderne hverdag i det sydlige Algeriet, hvor medlemmerne er vokset op.

Imarhan har gang på gang begejstret publikum med deres vellyd og hypnotiske livekoncerter, og udgivet albums, der er blevet rost i bl.a. The Guardian. I år markerer Imarhan 20 års jubilæum med udgivelsen af deres fjerde album “ESSAM” (City Slang, 2016), som viser nye veje for tuareg-bluesen og åbner for et mere moderne, åbent og eksperimenterende udtryk. Albummet følges op af en større tour, der heldigvis også bringer det fantastiske band til København, hvor ALICE endnu en gang har glæden af at præsentere dem.

The iconic band Imarhan has captivated audiences around the world with their soulful, groove-driven and hypnotic take on the guitar anthems of the Tuareg people. This year, they celebrate their 20th anniversary with the critically acclaimed new album ESSAM (City Slang, 2025), which charts exciting new paths for the tradition. Imarhan delivered a stunning, completely sold-out performance at ALICE in 2022, and we are thrilled to welcome them back this October.

Based in Tamanrasset in southern Algeria, where they have also built their own recording studio, Imarhan stand alongside artists such as Tinariwen and Mdou Moctar as part of a remarkable generation of bands rooted in the nomadic Tuareg culture that has mesmerized audiences worldwide with hypnotic, electrifying guitar anthems. Imarhan, however, have taken Tuareg music in a more urban and groove-oriented direction, blending influences from soul, rock and Algerian raï with their folk roots and hypnotic jams. Their music reflects both the spiritual heritage of the Tuareg people in northern Mali and the realities of contemporary life in southern Algeria, where the band members grew up.

Time and again, Imarhan have won over audiences with their rich, immersive sound and mesmerizing live performances, while their albums have received widespread acclaim from publications including The Guardian. Marking their 20th anniversary, the band returns with their fourth album, ESSAM (City Slang, 2025), which pushes Tuareg blues into new territory with a more modern, open and exploratory sound. The release is accompanied by an extensive international tour, which fortunately also brings this exceptional band back to Copenhagen, where ALICE is once again proud to present them.
