Join CMS at our upcoming event on the role of civil society in the war in Ukraine! 

Over four years into Russia’s full‑scale invasion, Ukraine has shown how crucial a resilient civil society is in wartime. Hybrid warfare, attacks on critical infrastructure, and disinformation have put immense pressure on the civilian population. Raising important questions about emergency response, military mobilization, crisis management, and cooperation between civil society, the state, and international actors.

On 8 April, the Centre for Military Studies invites you to a public seminar and panel debate exploring how Ukrainian civil society has shaped and responded to these challenges from the Maidan Revolution to today. We will discuss concrete lessons that may strengthen the European and Danish approach to emergency preparedness, societal security, and the protection of critical infrastructure.

The panel will consist of: 
-         Associate Professor and President of the American Association for Ukrainian Studies, Sophia Wilson (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville)
-         General Manager at Bevar Ukraine, Andrii Kuzmyn
-         Postdoc Sofie Rose, Ph.d. (Center for War Studies, University of Southern Denmark)
-         Head of Section Andreas Mejer Jensen (The Danish Emergency Management Agency)
-         Ph.D. and Advisor Jon Kyst (EU Advisory Mission Ukraine)

The debate will be moderated by Research Assistant Christine Veedfald Jensen (Centre for Military Studies).
